As a Senior Planner at the Town of Chapel Hill, I had the opportunity to edit a press release that was written by a consultant for a Planning Department project. In the PDF linked here, you will see my comfort with editing a news item to ensure it:
Opens with a clear lede;
Conveys appropriate context, action items, and timelines to the reader;
Omits jargon and confusing filler statements.
